Hello and Welcome to the Quidditch Pitch
Welcome and LETS GET READY TO PLAY SOME QUIDDITCH! Now you might be asking yourself how we are going to get something as amazing as QUIDDITCH onto a message board? I thought about this for a long time and I think I have come up with the answer. I know there is no way we can replace the feeling of zooming around the quidditch pitch on our brooms with simple muggle keyboards and computer screens but we will do what we can.
How To Play
How To Get On The Team
Each team is different as to what it is looking for on their teams. If you would like to be on your house's team please message your HOH and find out what you need to do. They should ask you simple things like
Can you be here for scheduled game times?
How familiar with the rules of Quidditch are you?
What position would you like to play and why?
What makes you qualified for that position
TEAMS MAY PRACTICE FOR MATCHES AT THE DISCRETION OF THE H.O.H. AND THE CAPTAIN
When We Play
We will have matches on Saturdays ((UNITED STATES)) I will post times for the matches on the guild home page.
Our matches will be held on the Quidditch Match Board. If you are on the team you will need to be logged on and on the boards during our match time in order to play. IF YOU ARE NOT THERE YOUR HOUSE TEAM WILL HAVE TO PLAY WITHOUT YOU. ((VOLUNTEERS FOR BACKUP PLAYERS SHOULD REGISTER WITH THE HOH)))
I will open the thread for the match. Each player will post a message that lets everyone know they are there and ready to play. Once every team member is there we will begin. The game will be post based. I am outlining how the game should work and what the rules for each position on the team are. Please if you have any questions, send an owl to Headmistress Rianna.
CHASERS
I will make a random choice as to who STARTS with the Quaffle. I will post a message that looks like this:
Slytherin has the Quaffle. Let the game begin.
The first chaser to post from the Slytherin team then has possession of the Quaffle. THAT chaser may attempt to score a goal. The post to attempt to score the goal with look like this.
[Slytherin chaser's name] ATTEMPTS to score a goal on Hufflepuff goal post.
Only the chaser with the ball may attempt to score a goal.
A chaser may only ATTEMPT to score a goal, NOT claim a goal in their post.
Once a goal is made the OPPOSITE team gains control of the quaffle. To gain control of the quaffle after a goal has been made a chaser of the opposite team must post
GRABS QUAFFLE
The first person to post "Grabs Quaffle" is the person with the quaffle. So post fast if you want to grab the quaffle!
PASSING THE QUAFFLE
If you wish to pass the quaffle you must post:
Passes the quaffle to ________
The person catching the quaffle has 2 posts to post "Catches Quaffle" if they do not post "catches Quaffle" within 2 posts, the opposing team gains possession of the quaffle.
KEEPERS
If you are your teams Keeper you must post that you attempt to block the attempted goal within 2 posts of the ATTEMPTED HIT. IF YOU DO NOT POST THAT YOU HAVE ATTEMPTED BLOCK THE GOAL WITHIN 2 POSTS THEN YOU FAILED TO BLOCK THE GOAL AND THE OTHER TEAM HAS SCORED
Your post should look like this
Attempts to block Slytherin's Goal
Once you have attempted to block to goal you may not Immediately post to try again. This is called spamming and is unfair. (example, posting repetitively "Attempts to block Slytherin's Goal" without waiting in between posts.)
NOTE: Your post of Attempting to block the goal must be within 2 board posts, not two of your posts.
BEATERS
I will post random posts during game play that will say BLUDGER. You MUST make your post within 3 posts of the "BLUDGER" post. Your post should say..
Attempts to hit Bludger
The next person to post after you have posted your "attempts to hit bludger" post is the person that it hits. That person may not post for 3 next posts after they have been hit.
Note: The first beater ( no matter the team they belong to) that posts "Attempts to hit Bludger" within the 3 posts rule hits the bludger. Those posts are 3 board posts, not your own personal posts.
SEEKERS
I will post randomly a post that will say "SNITCH". You MUST post your post within 2 posts of the SNITCH post. If you do not post your post within the 2 posts then you DID NOT CATCH THE SNITCH and you MUST wait until the next time the SNITCH post appears.
Your post should be
Attempts to catch the snitch
Note: Spamming posts of "Attempts to Catch the Snitch" will get you kicked off your house team. This is unfair and rude.
RECAP RULES
The rules of our Quidditch are just about the same as the real Quidditch rules.
GOALS ARE WORTH TEN POINTS
CATCHING THE SNITCH IS WORTH 150 POINTS
EACH TEAM MUST MAKE THEIR POSTS IN THE COLOR OF THEIR HOUSE.
(Eample: Slytherin members post in green, while Gryffindor posts in red, Ravenclaw posts in blue and Hufflepuff posts in yellow)
PLEASE READ THE 'HOW TO PLAY' VERY CAREFULLY! If you are caught not following the rules or not obeying the 'how to play' then you will be suspended from the team for the next 2 matches.
Do not claim that you do score a goal in your post. You must follow the how to play post requirement
NO spam posting! this is just spam posting your "hits bludger" or "catches snitch" or "attempts goal" or "blocks goal" posts in order to be sure that you are within your post requirements.
NO VIOLENCE. Do not go over an hit, bite, punch or in any other way be violent to other players
Have good sportsmanship. If you loose the game or you dont make it within your post requirements do not argue, complain, and make the game worse for everyone else. JUST HAVE FUN and remember that Quidditch is an extra we have as a guild. we dont have to have quidditch and I will take it away if we have too many problems with our players.
The quidditch cup will go to the winning team at the end of each term. In order to get the Quidditch cup your team must win in total points from all of their games by the end of term.
Please look to the next thread of "Example Game" to be sure that you understand how it looks.
